Farah, aka @thesoulspoon, spoonfeeds my soul with all the loveliness that I need to get by, especially in ol' London taaaan (see what I did there?). She's passionate about self-love and self-care and delivers it in so much more than beautiful wide-eyed Instagram squares - it radiates out of her entire being, and if you haven't met her, frankly, you're missing out. When we sat down (metaphorically) to talk about what enthusiasm means to her, she just proved my point even more, by arguing it's much more than 'positive vibes only', but instead about allowing ourselves to be human. THAT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN - in my best Amy Santiago voice because I'm currently obsessed with Brooklyn 99, about 5 years later than everyone else with eyes or ears - IS ENTHUSIASM. My gal -
What are you enthusiastic about?
Healing and connection. Healing ourselves through self love, honesty, and community - so that we as a society can heal and return back to love instead of fear. Life is fricking incredible when we see everything through the lenses of love again! (And this is coming from someone who used to only see with fear!) So many of the problems in our world are driven by ego and fear and if we all invested in ourselves and became more self aware about the conditioning that keeps us from remembering our own power and worth, the world would be such an incredible place to live. I’m also super passionate about connection in all forms, back to ourselves, back to nature and remembering that we ARE nature, and connecting back to each other. It all starts with our own self work.
Why do you keep doing what you're doing?
I keep going and sharing on the blog because of the private messages I get letting me know how much the honesty and love is needed. It’s hard sometimes being so vulnerable, but it’s where the deepest connections and resonance is felt. Even just knowing that me sharing tools and mindset hacks that help me, or sharing my own journey with mental health and this life has helped ONE person makes it all more than worth it.
On a more personal note, I keep going with my personal growth because I’m kind of addicted to self-growth and being the best version I can be so that I can serve the world in the best way possible. As soon as I see a block within myself, I try and work through it and get to the core of it ASAP! I need to chill sometimes and give myself a break...
What's the impact you want to make?
I want us all to accept and love ourselves as much as we can. I want us to be open and honest with each other, to move away from only sharing the good times or ‘insta-worthy’ moments, to sharing the SPECTRUM that is life. I want us to forget this ‘positive vibes only’ and allow ourselves to be humans, imperfect and fricking incredible all at the same time. So if I can work towards this vision in whatever way it may be, I’ll be happy!
Best advice you've ever been given?
The best advice I live by is to invest in your own growth and healing. In the past two years I’ve hardly gone shopping or spent money on things I would have seen as important before, and instead I’ve used the money for therapy, and retreats and it’s changed my life completely. I’ve never been more content, it’s the best money I ever spent. Everything falls into place when we start with ourselves first. We have all the answers within, we just need to reconnect to ourselves!
Who's your Enthusiastic hero?
The person I’m digging the most at the moment is @jannerobinson because she’s enthusiastic about being unapologetically yourself. She full on rejects what society tells us to be like as women, and redefines it for herself. Like full on SHE power is what she personifies to me!
If money were no object, what would you be doing?
Creating a worldwide tribe and movement centred around self love, and creating a more open and accepting society - having it based online would allow me to travel and live in the wildest remote forests in the world (the dream for me - Nature is my Church!) whilst still making an impact!
