3 products to help keep your t-shirts clean and stain-free

As a woman who can’t go a meal without spilling something down herself, the irony of selling predominantly t-shirts in light colours is not lost on me. (Bring back bibs, I say!)

And whilst I’m clearly still learning whereabouts my mouth is (insert joke here about being a loudmouth, so it’s a wonder I can miss it), I have at least used my years on this earth to find some brilliant products that at least mitigate my mistakes.

Here’s 3 of those products, so you can go forth and buy your (ethical, eco-friendly) t-shirts with longevity in mind!

Save My Knickers

Blood is hella hard to get out of clothing, as anyone with eczema, dermotillomania (skin-picking), or a predilection for murder will know (I’ll leave it up to you to decide which two of those three I have). Save My Knickers is the first product designed to attack blood stains specifically; just cover the stain with a teaspoon of the powder as soon as you spot it, add cold water to make a grainy paste that you gently rub in, then roll up and leave in cold water overnight before adding to your wash as normal. Where was this product years ago?!

Stain removal pen

ICYMI: a bottle of stain remover and a bingo dobber had a baby.

Ok, so stain remover is hardly a revelation, but in a format you can put in your bag? That’s some pretty magic stuff. Whack it in your handbag to attack stains on the go, and you’ll minimise the damage done!

Plus, it’s a good way of flirting with your hot Dominican pal, in the bodega he runs on 175th Street & Audubon Avenue (if you know, you know). Win win, if you ask me…

Percarbonate of soda

I first heard about this particular powder via the brilliant Charlotte Jacklin on instagram. (If you don’t follow her, you definitely should; you can also find her quoted in Voracious 2 on the subject of tablescapes).

Percarbonate of soda is an oxygen bleach, making it a great alternative to chlorine bleach. It’s natural, safe, gentle, and biodegradable too!
