It started, as all good things do, as just a girl, standing in front of her scanner, screaming “What the hell is a vector?”
For a brand photography shoot, I had created a slogan t-shirt that said enthusiast. (Created is a term best used loosely, as what I actually did was write enthusiast on a piece of A4 paper in Sharpie, scan it in, and then email a graphic designer pal saying “I need this in a vector please help me?”) With the word under the microscope — by which I mean scan bed — it got me thinking more about it as a concept. How had I always taken enthusiasm for granted, when actually it’s one of the things I treasure most about life?
In the 5 years since, The Enthusiast & Co has gone from one t-shirt design to a full, ethically- and environmentally-friendly shop and platform that’s been featured in Stylist, Huffington Post, The Happy News, and more.

Hiya! 👋🏻 I’m Ellie. Cambridge-born, Hull-raised, and now London-living, I’m a big fan of a power suit, baklava and New York City, though the latter is in an entirely wistful, voyeuristic way, as I don’t have the nervous system to handle it. I graduated uni with a BA in philosophy, (which should, in theory, make asking the question “Who am I?” a little easier), and then went back for more with an MA in One Direction. (Ask me about it!!!) A lifetime of being enthusiastic led me to setting up the Enthusiast & Co in 2017, as a way of exploring and honouring this thing that had governed so much of my life.
I’m an enthusiasm expert and writer for myself, the media, and brilliant small businesses, which in reality means my internet tabs constantly consist of “synonym for x”. I spend most of my other time crying about sunsets, trying to find the perfect high-waisted jeans, ignoring the TikToks that tell me that low-waisted jeans are back in, doing both of the above whilst re-dressing my relationship with fashion & over-consumption, eating baklava or Christmas shopping, regardless of what month it is.
